Own Your Health!

Today’s media is inundated with the latest weight loss program, pharmaceutical miracles, anti aging formulas, new health care reform, debates on which bill will work for what, government assisted health care, single payer insurance, etc., and yet, lost in the media frenzy is the emphasis and messaging around self-care and wellness. The health care reform should come second to reforming the socially driven paradigms which support the idea that health is outside of your control. Your body's health and wellbeing should not be a political issue. No matter who is in office and what heath care system wins, it is important to remember that we, as a people, have to take back our health. It is is not up to our government. The responsibility for a healthy, radiant life is yours and yours alone.

Taking responsibility for your health and wellness can be a scary proposition because it suggests that, in order to take responsibility for your health, you must also take responsibility for your illness. It requires cultivating a keen awareness and loving relationship with your body. It also requires a diligent practice of making the right choices in what you eat, who you surround yourself with, and what what you plant in your mental landscape.

You already have the power within you to be a sacred witness to your body’s messages and trust that disease, tension or tiredness are trying to tell you something. Disease and illness are messages which provide you with sign posts to either validate the direction you are going, or suggest a new course all together. There is a lot of “truth” in illness, and our culture is failing to hear it. Instead, the symptoms are getting louder and the "treatments" are becoming ways to disconnect you from tuning in and hearing the cues from your body.

It is time for YOU to check in and ask, how have you been taking care of your body this year? And then ask, do you feel radiant, healthy, inspired and renewed everyday? If you don't, then it's time to celebrate this great opportunity to begin to take small steps in cultivating practices which promote your health.

Daily practices in meditation, yoga, or any other form of self-care, such as massage, acupuncture, proper diets all enriches the connection between mind and body and makes the voice of intuition clearer and louder.

The body is a way to experience consciousness and it is the through the body that the health of our mind is reveled. We all have the ability to step in and take ownership of our health and wellbeing. It is an on going practice of discovering ways in which you can become your own healer; trusting your inner wisdom, and cultivating an inner empowerment in order to be the helmsmen of your radiant journey.

May you continue to be empowered, to celebrate your life and your health, and have your body be the reflection of all the loving choices you have made!

Namaste!
